Congratulations to Joelle who made HIGH HONORS this term! We are very proud of her dedication to her school work, and all the while still playing both rec and travel basketball (and playing her heart out at both).

Joelle Rocks!

I took Will and Mina last night to see Joelle in her new play, “Schoolhouse Rock.”  I remember seeing the clips of SHR as a child.  It was squeezed between cartoon shows, and I’d sing along to, “I’m Just a Bill” or, my personal favorite, “Conjunction Junction.”  Good memories.  Anyway, Joelle has been practicing for this show for awhile, and I was really looking forward to seeing it.  It didn’t disappoint!

This is Joelle’s fourth show now – having had a part in The King and I at the Ogunquit Playhouse and then Honk! and Treasure Island both at the Seacoast Repertory Theatre (where SHR is also running until next Sunday…shameless plug!).  At each show I feel this tightening in my throat for Joelle – it’s this feeling that comes over me of sheer love and a proud feeling of being her (wicked) step-mother.  

I’ve been in Joelle’s life since she was a toddler, and it has been fun watching her evolve into a young lady.   From the first day of Kindergarten to now  ... sixth grade and school dances.  Yikes!  Where did the time go? 

So as I go about my day today singing songs stuck in my head like, “Interplanet Janet” (could be my new favorite) or “Conjunction Junction”, I think of Joelle – and how proud I am to be her step mom.

School House Rock

Congrats to Joelle who made the cast of School House Rock which will be playing at the Seacoast Rep in Novemeber!  She will be featured in the classic "Conjunction Junction" among others.  Nice Job Joelle!

Happy Birthday Joelle!

Today is Joelle's birthday.  She is now 11.  WOW where did the time go?

You're Going to Hollywood!

Good luck to Joelle who today embarks on a 2 week adventure to Hollywood to take part in Camp Electric Youth.  Camp Electric Youth is a theater/acting/singing camp for children.  It was started by Deborah Gibson and features celebrity instructors Jason Alexander (Seinfeld), Howard Fine, Cynthia Bain  of course Deborah Gibson(and others).

Joelle got the theater bug started in a BIG way when she auditioned for a role on the "King and I" at the Ogunquit Playhouse last summer.  She landed a role as one of the King's children and got to work with the likes of Lorenzo Lamas and Rachel de Benedet.  It was an exciting time for all of us. As a side note she will be working with Lorenzo Lamas once again, he is a guest instructor at CEY.

Since then she has been in 2 more plays. HONK!  and Treasure Island (both at the Seacoast Rep Theater).

A few months back she sent in an audition video(s) to Camp Electric Youth and was chosen to be one of the children in this years camp.  She also received a partial scholarship.

Although I am going to miss her for next 2 weeks I am very happy for her to be able to take part in this chance of a lifetime.  Good Luck Joelle and break a leg!!

HONK-Opening Night

Tonight is opening night of HONK at the Seacoast Rep.  This is Joelle's second play.  Last summer she was in the King and I at the Ogunquit Playhouse.  Break a leg Joelle!  We are very proud of you.

I also snapped a shot of this unsuspecting dad.  This gives you a better view of the peephole.  This guy bogart's the peephole most of the time.

This picture was taken at our old house in 2003.  I can't put my finger on it but whenever I am looking through the pictures it makes me laugh/smile.  It's one of my favorites.
Perhaps it's the look of terror and joy all at once from Mina?

HONK!

Congratulations to Joelle who who landed a role in he Musical "HONK" at the Seacoast Rep Theater.  Joelle had a great time last summer when she was in "The King and I" and she is looking forward to her second play.

The play will be running from April 4th to April 20th.
A little about Honk from wiki:

Honk! is a musical retelling of the Hans Christian Andersen story The Ugly Duckling.
The story is set in the countryside (originally 'a backwater of England', although American productions usually relocate this to United States), and it features an ugly duckling who discovers his inner when he becomes a swan, his tearful mother Ida, a drake who 'ducks' his fatherly responsibilities, a gaggle of comical geese, a sly tomcat who just wants to play with his food, a wisecracking bullfrog, and other such barnyard creatures, together with a great many of puns. Memorable songs include "A Poultry Tale," "Warts and All," "Look at Him," "Play With Your Food," "Now I've Seen You," and "Different".
